Alto saxophonist Lou Donaldson was born inBadin, North Carolina, on November 1, 1926 (heis 92 at this writing). Best known for his soulful,bluesy approach to playing the alto saxophone, inhis formative years he was, as many of the bebopera were, heavily influenced by Charlie Parker. Thisrelease presents Donaldson’s complete original LPBlues Walk, presenting the saxophonist as the onlyhorn in a quintet that also features Ray Barrettoon congas. Two songs featuring nearly the samepersonnel originally issued in 1961 as a 45rpmsingle have been added as a bonus.
