Big Bill Broonzy was at the heart of the Chicago bluesscene during its early years and his popularity would lastuntil his death in 1958. His gentle brand of country blueshad, by then, been overshadowed by a new generation ofshowy, electrified bluesmen, but his contribution to thetradition in linking the Mississippi delta blues of RobertJohnson with the Chicago sound of Muddy Waters andothers is one that remains recognised and revered today.
