Skeeter Davis was the first female Country artist to bridge the gap between the Country and Pop charts in the late 1950s, with music that blended mainstream pop with traditional Country and Western that some have called teen-angst Country-Pop. She was huge influence on the female country artists who followed in her wake, and Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, and Loretta Lynn all acknowledged her influence.
