During 1957 jazz producer Norman Granz was fond of pairing the legendary drummer-less trio of Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, and Ray Brown, with several different stars from the Jazz at the Philharmonic concert series. Stan Getz and the Oscar Peterson Trio (Verve MGV-8251) was the fi rst quartet pairing of Getz and the pianist, both of whom had previously collaborated together on other Granz albums, such as Diz & Getz (also showcasing Dizzy Gillespie), and Jazz Giants ’58 (also featuring Harry “Sweets” Edison and Gerry Mulligan). Although they continued working together here and there, Getz and Peterson would never record another album in this format. Four tunes that complete the session but were not included on the original LP, plus two others from their previous date with Dizzy Gillespie have been added as a bonus.
