In the mid-seventies the club, “Chez Julie” was the weekend rendez-vous a mature crowd of lovers ofHaitian music who lived in the metropolitan New York areas. They went there to eat, to drink or to listento and dance to Tropical Combo’s superhits such as “Creche” with its double entendre lyrics, “Papa Loco”a rendition of a famous Haitian folk song in konpa style, and “Fe Grog la Mache” a new version of a verypopular Haitian song. This CD is the first release by Tropical Combo. It is a very successful collaborativework of only three musicians who have amassed ample experiences playing with three of the mostrenowned Haitian Big Band Groups.
