On her new album Close To You Fay Claassen opens a window in time, to an era that has molded her character as a person and a singer. Together with an outstanding band, an orchestra and wellknown musical guests such as Benjamin Herman, Hermine Deurloo, Antonio Serrano and Teus Nobel, and producer/arranger Roeland Jacobs at her side, she interprets songs from her youth in the 1970s. To Fay and many of her peers from the jazz world, vinyl and radio were the social media of theirtime. Music was something to bond over; connected to deep emotions and formative experiences.
