The world-premiere recording of 18th Century Spanish composer Francisco Valls' 'Missa Regalis', - set alongside organ works from his contemporaries, Francisco Correa de Arouxo and Juan Bautista Jose Cabinilles. - Valls’ Missa Regalis Performed from a new edition of the score, edited by musicologist Simon Heighes; featuring The Chapel Choir of Keble College, Oxford, alongside the Academy of Ancient Music, directed by Matthew Martin.

New score edition follows the discover of the manuscript in a Barcelona library. Valls stands out in Spain’s baroque era, not just for his work at Barcelona Cathedral and his theatrical works, but for his controversial mix of old and new, and flagrant disregard for various established musical practices. His daring harmony led to fellow composer J. M. de la Roca publishing a pamphlet in protest, and composers across Spain taking sides in the ensuing heated debate.
