The young South-Korean Kyeong Ham belongs to the new generation of top notch oboe players and this debut album Tawo proves why. Accompanied on piano by the internationally also highly regarded Yeol Eum Son, the most complex pieces written for this combination of instruments are performed with ease. Remarkable contrasts in timbre and dynamics and at times virtually unplayable rhythms sound like they’re not challenging at all and even more provide you a fascinating musical journey. On Tawo six iconic works for the oboe, among which are Pavel Haas’ compelling Suite Op.17, one of the final pieces he wrote, rather unknown music by the Greek Nikos Skalkottas and downright firework by Esa-Pekka Salonen.

Kyeong Ham won the ARD competition in Germany in 2017, played 2 years at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and resides since 2018 at the Finnish Philharmonic Orchestra as principal oboist.
