In the heart of New Orleans, studio owner Cosimo Matassasmiled. Working with producers like Dave Bartholomew andAllen Toussaint produced the sounds that he had in his head.Like blues - but not the rural, ‘work-up-this-morning' andacoustic guitar kind. A more funky, piano-based style, with hornsand drums that kept everything a-rollin'. That kind of thing. Aprecursor of rock and roll; it was a sound meant for juke boxes.
