This electrifying live performance, from a September 1964 concert date in Berlin, is the earliest recording of the full line-up that would become known as Miles' "Second Great Quintet"; Davis, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. Recorded in Germany Miles's Quintet graces the stage of the Berlin Philharmonie, only a year after its opening. With favorites like “Milestones”, “So What”, “Stella By Starlight”, “Autumn Leaves” and “Walkin’”, played by a fab band in top form. This group occupies a seminal place in the history of jazz, and this recording occupies a seminal position in their creative oeuvre. This quintet is still the model for much of today’s jazz, and it all began with this record.
